PESHAWAR – Malik Adeel Iqbal, Special Assistant to Chief Minister (SACM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tourism on Sunday expressed strong annoyance over illegal construction in Galiyat during a recent inspection of Ayubia Chairlift.
He directed relevant authorities to implement effective measures to prevent unauthorized development, saying that construction in area remained prohibited under court orders.
He said that strict compliance with these judicial directives would be ensured. He also warned that severe action would be taken against those involved in illegal activities, as natural beauty and environment of Galiyat would not be compromised under any circumstances.
During his visit, the SACM highlighted historical and cultural significance of Ayubia Chairlift, saying that it was first chairlift in Asia and remained one of Galiyat’s most iconic tourist attractions.
Additionally, he inspected Dunga Gali Tourist Facilitation Centre, where he directed Tourism Department to prominently display tourist complaint helpline number at visible locations to ensure prompt assistance for visitors.
Concluding his tour, the SACM inaugurated 700-meter-long Dunga Gali Town Road and Nathia Gali Sewerage System Project.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, he said that newly improved road is one of busiest in Galiyat and will facilitate easier access for tourists traveling to popular Mushkpuri hiking trail.
Meanwhile, new sewerage system project would ensure that wastewater was properly cleaned before being safely discharged into designated forest areas, further protecting the region’s environment.
