LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced revised school timings for all public and private schools across the province.
Punjab schools are set to follow a new routine as students and teachers return on August 24. The School Education Department has issued a fresh timing notification, revising daily school hours for single-shift, double-shift and girls’ schools.
According to the official notification, the revised timings will take effect from August 24, 2026, and remain in force until October 15, 2026.
Schools will continue to operate five days a week, from Monday to Friday, while Saturday will remain a holiday in government schools.
New School Timings
Under the revised schedule, single-shift schools will open at 8:00am from Monday to Thursday and remain open until 1:30pm. On Friday, school hours will be from 8:00am to 12:45pm.
For morning-shift schools, classes will run from 8:00am to 12:30pm from Monday to Thursday. On Friday, the morning session will end at 12:00 noon.
Evening Shift Timings
The evening shift will operate from 1:00pm to 5:30pm from Monday to Thursday. On Friday, the second shift will begin at 2:00pm and end at 5:30pm.
Girls’ Schools to Open Earlier
The notification also includes a 15-minute adjustment for girls’ schools. Under the general arrangement, girls’ schools will open 15 minutes earlier than boys’ schools and close 15 minutes earlier.
However, Chief Executive Officers of District Education Authorities have been empowered to modify this difference where local circumstances require an adjustment.

The revised timings are not a temporary arrangement and will remain applicable until October 15, 2026. The School Education Department has directed all district education authorities across Punjab to ensure strict implementation of the new schedule.
