Masoud Pezeshkian, born October 6, 1952, is an Iranian politician and a prominent reformist. He has been serving as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Tabriz, Osku, and Azarshahr constituencies for several terms. Pezeshkian is a trained cardiac surgeon. He has also served as Iran's Minister of Health and Medical Education from 2001 to 2005 under President Mohammad Khatami. Known for his moderate reformist views, he has been an active advocate for civil rights, healthcare reform, and democratization within the country. Pezeshkian is also recognized for his stance on reducing governmental centralization and supporting regional autonomy in Iran.
