KARACHI: The mobile phone of Mahwish, who was killed along with her three children in Karachi’s Surjani Town, remains missing from the house, adding another mystery to the ongoing investigation.
According to police investigation sources, the house was searched, but the victim’s mobile phone could not be found.
Police are attempting to obtain her call record data, saying the phone could provide important evidence if recovered.
Investigators said Mahwish’s husband had called her before reaching home and the phone was ringing at the time. However, it was later switched off.
Police sources said there appeared to be no other way to enter or leave the house apart from the main gate. Investigators also found no signs that any window or door had been forced open. They said entering the house from the roof also appeared to be impossible.
The murder weapon also has not yet been recovered.
An eight-member investigation team has been formed to probe the deaths of Mahwish and her three children. DIG West Irfan Baloch constituted the team, which is being headed by SSP West Tariq Mastoi. The team includes the SP Investigation West, a DSP and the SHO of Surjani Town.
An initial medical examination of the victims has also been completed. According to police, the victims suffered multiple severe injuries to their heads.
The police surgeon said the blows caused extensive damage to the victims’ brain tissues. He also confirmed that the critically injured minor Ashmira died during treatment at Jinnah Hospital.
Samples collected from the bodies have been sent for chemical examination. According to the police surgeon, the tests will determine whether the victims were given any intoxicating substance before their deaths.

The deceased woman was identified as Mahwish. Her children were identified as five-year-old Hasnain, six-year-old Kashmirah and an 18-month-old girl. The infant was initially taken to hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to her injuries.
Police are also questioning Mahwish’s husband as part of the investigation.
According to the husband, he had left home to drop his employer somewhere. When he returned, he said no one opened the door despite his repeated attempts to call out to his wife.
According to the FIR, Mahwish and her husband, Danish, had been married for around 10 to 12 years.
