Peshawar – A meeting to resolve issues faced by transporters operating from Peshawar-Lahore Adda was held at the office of Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Transport and Mass Transit, Samiullah Khan, on Monday.
The meeting was attended by relevant officials of the Transport Department, along with office-bearers and representatives of the Lahore Adda Transporters Union. During the meeting, the transporters apprised the Special Assistant of their concerns regarding fares, scheduled rates and other issues faced by operators associated with the transport sector.
Samiullah Khan listened to the transporters’ concerns in detail and assured them that the provincial government would take necessary steps, within the legal framework, to resolve their legitimate issues, including reviewing the scheduled rates.
He said public transporters were playing a vital role in providing travel facilities to citizens. The government’s priority was to make the transport sector more efficient, organized and effective so that people could access safe, convenient and quality transportation services.
Samiullah Khan said that no unlawful additional taxes would be imposed on transporters and that no individual or authority would be allowed to misuse their powers or act arbitrarily in this regard.
Following the assurance given by the Special Assistant, Peshawar-Lahore Adda transporters announced the immediate resumption of vehicle operations on different routes from the terminal.
On the occasion, the Special Assistant said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would continue taking all possible measures to provide better transport facilities to the public and ensure that citizens did not face any inconvenience during their journeys.
