PESHAWAR – Government City Girls’ College Gulbahar held an Independence Day ceremony on Saturday, with students, faculty members and administrative staff participating in the celebrations with patriotic fervour.
The ceremony was aimed at commemorating the sacrifices made during the struggle for Pakistan and promoting a sense of national unity, solidarity and responsibility among students.
Principal Prof Rabia Sikandar presided over the ceremony, while Director Higher Education Dr Farid Ullah Shah attended as chief guest. Deputy Director Jameel and a large number of faculty members, administrative staff and students were also present. The college premises were decorated with national flags, green and white buntings and banners to mark Independence Day.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by hoisting of the national flag and the national anthem. Students also presented activities highlighting their commitment to Pakistan and its national ideals. A special prayer was offered for the security, peace, stability, progress and prosperity of the country.
Addressing the ceremony, the speakers said Pakistan had been achieved through the sacrifices and struggle of its founding generation and urged students to shoulder their responsibility for the country’s development through education, hard work, unity and discipline.
They said Independence Day served as a reminder of the value of freedom, national identity and the collective responsibility to contribute to the country’s progress and prosperity.
In her concluding remarks, Prof Rabia Sikandar thanked the chief guest, faculty members, administrative staff and students for participating in the celebrations.
She reaffirmed the college’s commitment to providing quality education while fostering national unity, positive social values and a sense of responsibility among students.
The ceremony concluded with the cutting of an Independence Day cake.
