LAHORE   –   The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has recovered Rs10 mil­lion in cash and two vehicles worth around Rs35 million from former Central Jail Gujranwala su­perintendent Azhar Javed Cheema, officials said on Saturday. Addressing a press conference, the Gujranwala Director of Anti-Corruption said the recoveries were made in connection with a case in which Cheema is accused of receiving a bribe of Rs45 million from a citizen. The recovered cash and vehicles were displayed before the media during the press conference. According to the officials, the recovered assets were hand­ed over to the complainant, Afzal Cheema. The director said the action was part of the Punjab government’s ongoing campaign against cor­ruption launched under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
