LAHORE – The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has recovered Rs10 million in cash and two vehicles worth around Rs35 million from former Central Jail Gujranwala superintendent Azhar Javed Cheema, officials said on Saturday. Addressing a press conference, the Gujranwala Director of Anti-Corruption said the recoveries were made in connection with a case in which Cheema is accused of receiving a bribe of Rs45 million from a citizen. The recovered cash and vehicles were displayed before the media during the press conference. According to the officials, the recovered assets were handed over to the complainant, Afzal Cheema. The director said the action was part of the Punjab government’s ongoing campaign against corruption launched under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
