Mardan – A one-day awareness session on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) issues and policy changes was held in Mardan in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chapter of Fresh Water Action Network South Asia-Pakistan and under the auspices of the Integrated Regional Support Programme (IRSP).
The session aimed to raise awareness about emerging WASH issues, policy changes, and their potential impacts, while encouraging stakeholders to promote collaborative action through consultation and coordination. A large number of men, women, students, social workers, and members of women and youth networks participated. Speakers discussed challenges facing the WASH sector, the importance of improved sanitation facilities, and the promotion of hygiene and public health.
IRSP Executive Director Shah Nasir, Muhammad Ismail, and Nosheen Sardar said WASH issues affect every member of society, stressing that participation of all segments is essential for sustainable solutions. They urged participants to promote awareness and positive change in their communities.
The speakers emphasized that women and youth are important segments, and their effective involvement in policymaking and practical initiatives can help achieve better and more sustainable results.
Participants expressed commitment to strengthening mutual cooperation and continuing joint initiatives at the local level.
