Peshawar – South Air on Saturday launched a new flight service between Peshawar and Quetta, with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi describing the initiative as a significant step towards improving air connectivity, facilitating passenger travel and promoting economic activity in the province.
The governor was the chief guest at a ceremony held at Bacha Khan International Airport to mark the launch, where he cut a cake along with representatives of the airline and other officials.
South Air Chief Executive Officer Nishat Fatima, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Transport and Mass Transit Samiullah Khan, Pakistan Peoples Party Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Muhammad Ali Shah, Pakistan Red Crescent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chairman Farzand Wazir and Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Junaid Altaf attended the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Kundi welcomed the launch of the Peshawar-Quetta service and thanked the South Air management for introducing the new route.
He said the airline would soon expand its operations by launching flights to Chitral, Dera Ismail Khan and Lahore, which, he added, would further strengthen air links between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of the country.
The governor said improved air connectivity would provide better travel facilities to the people and contribute to economic activity in the province. He said enhanced air links would also facilitate trade and business and help create greater opportunities for economic growth.
Governor Kundi reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at improving transport and connectivity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and appreciated South Air’s efforts to expand its aviation services in the province. He also congratulated the airline on the commencement of its Peshawar-Quetta operations and expressed his best wishes for its future expansion.
