King Charles III arrived in the Scottish Borders town of Jedburgh for this year’s Royal Week in Scotland, his first visit to the historic Royal Burgh since 2006. The 77-year-old was met with music, cheers and the cheers of local schoolchildren in what was a special occasion for locals due to be celebrated over the next two weeks in the town’s annual Jethart Callant’s Festival.

The King spent time chatting to local shopkeepers, residents and community leaders while walking through the market.

After a visit to the Jedburgh Chocolate House where he was told of Gabrielle Hackney’s sweet business by the owner he spoke of a visit from his childhood nanny, originally from Jedburgh.

He said that in the 1940s his nanny would visit the Capital from Jedburgh with traditional sweets called “Jethart snails” and amazingly earlier in the day he had met his nannie’s nephew during his visit to Jed Shed.

As part of his programme he was invited to officially kick off a historic game of Hand Ba’, full-contact street football which has been a part of Jedburgh traditions since 1704. The sport is contested between Uppies and Doonies based on location: the Uppies the northern end of Jedburgh while the Doonies live in the lower part of the town near the river.

A horse processional also travelled through the square as Callant led a riding party on the historic town street before they dismounted and performed a traditional reel dance for the monarch.

Part of a week of Royal engagement Royal Week, traditionally known as Holyrood Week, continues the Royal Family’s work across Scotland with the week kicking off with the Ceremony of the Keys at the Palace of Holyroodhouse and a presentation of Honours at the Scottish Parliament.

As Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s grand event comes closer, guests have started to arrive to spend time with the star couple’s family.

On July 2, according to TMZ reports, Blake Lively, along with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, was spotted in Lake Placid.

In the photos, the pair cheered on their daughter Betty as she competed in a horse show at a local farm, nearly 300 miles away from Swift’s wedding festivities at Madison Square Garden (MSG). Betty competed in several events throughout the day, placing first and second.

Meanwhile, in the city, several celebrity guests were seen arriving at Madison Square Garden for what is believed to be Swift and Kelce’s rehearsal dinner. The star-studded guest list includes Selena Gomez, Lena Dunham, Jack Antonoff, Abigail Anderson, Erin Andrews, Charissa Thompson, Greg Olsen, and Aric Jones, all of whom attended the night’s event.

The popstar and NFL player’s wedding comes nearly a year after they announced their engagement on August 26, 2025. Although he was unsuccessful, he publicly declared his interest in Swift on his New Heights podcast in July 2023, and they began seeing each other shortly afterwards.

James has a voice cameo in Swift’s Reputation track “Gorgeous,” while James, Inez, and Betty are all name-dropped in Folklore. In May 2023, Lively brought James and Inez along to the Eras Tour as they proudly supported their “aunt” Taylor.  But in May 2025, a source told PEOPLE that the two were “taking some space” from one another. The reports of the shift in the friendship came after Swift was served a subpoena from Baldoni’s lawyers.

In August 2025, a source told PEOPLE, “Taylor and Blake aren’t speaking.” In January 2026, Swift and Lively’s private text messages were unsealed due to the legal dispute, leaving Swift wanting to “stay away from the drama,” a source told PEOPLE.

According to the sources, “Swift was just being a friend to Blake, and it’s turned into something bigger than she ever expected. She never thought private messages would become public.”

Substitute Goncalo Ramos’s headed goal edged Portugal into the last 16 of the World Cup on Thursday after a gripping contest with Croatia.

Ramos connected with a superb pass from Rafael Leao in the fourth minute of stoppage time to snuff out a Croatia team which had created the lion’s share of the chances in sapping evening heat in Toronto.

In a dramatic ending, Croatia thought they had equalised in the dying seconds but Josko Gvardiol’s goal was chalked off for offside.

The Croatians were left stunned by the decision, while Portugal’s players celebrated.

Cristiano Ronaldo played his role in the victory, stroking home a penalty that cancelled out Ivan Perisic’s opener.

It was Ronaldo’s first ever goal in the knockout phase of the World Cup and his remarkable international career will have another chapter when Portugal face Spain in Dallas on Monday.

Perisic had stunned the Portuguese by slotting the ball under the advancing Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa in the 53rd minute.

Within minutes, Ronaldo had the ball in the net after controlling a long pass, but his effort was disallowed for offside.

But Portugal got level when Renato Veiga was grabbed by Croatia’s Nikola Vlasic in the penalty area and after a VAR check, the referee pointed to the spot.

Ronaldo stepped up to convert the penalty with ease, hitting the ball straight down the middle of the goal and pumping his fists with joy afterwards.

In a pulsating game, Manchester City forward Mateo Kovacic’s low shot was pushed onto a post by ‘keeper Costa’s fingertips.

Still Croatia pushed and Peta Sucic had the ball in the net but the assistant referee’s flag was up for a clear offside.

Ronaldo was withdrawn in the 81st minute to allow Ruben Neves to come on.

Croatia continued to create more chances than their opponents and Mario Pasalic came so close to winning the game with a header at the far post, but it bounced just wide.

But when Ramos connected, the net bulged and Portugal were through.

Lahore  –  Rashid Latif Khan University (RLKU), through its Department of Media and Communication Studies, established the Majid Nizami Chair to pay tribute to the outstanding journalistic, intellectual, and national contributions of the late Majid Nizami, one of Pakistan’s most distinguished journalists, editors, and an unwavering advocate of the Ideology of Pakistan.

The Chair was formally inaugurated by Ms Rameeza Majid Nizami, Chairperson of the Nawa-i-Waqt Group. On the occasion, she was announced as the first Chairperson of the Majid Nizami Chair and was also conferred the honorary title of Professor of Practice by the university in recognition of her valuable contributions to journalism and media.

Rameeza Majid Nizami visited Rashid Latif Khan University on the special invitation of Prof Dr Saeed-ul-Hassan Chishti, Pro Vice Chancellor. During a special interactive session held in the University’s Conference Room, she addressed the university management, faculty members, and students.

In her keynote address, Ms Nizami said that Majid Nizami’s journalistic legacy was built upon integrity, professionalism, national interest, and an unwavering commitment to press freedom. She emphasised that the establishment of academic chairs in universities would help nurture research, critical thinking, responsible journalism, and national consciousness among young people. Referring to the rapidly evolving media landscape, she remarked that truth, factual reporting, impartiality, and professional ethics have become more important than ever. She also expressed her commitment to making the Majid Nizami Chair an active platform for research, academic dialogue, and professional media education.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Sabahat Khan, Chief Executive Officer of Rashid Latif Khan University, said that the responsibility of nurturing students’ character has always rested with teachers and will continue to do so despite the rapid advancement of technology and artificial intelligence. She stated that RLKU is committed to producing competent, responsible, and ethically grounded future leaders. She described the establishment of the Majid Nizami Chair as a continuation of the University’s vision to promote research, freedom of expression, and responsible communication. Welcoming Ms Nizami to the University, she expressed confidence that her leadership and guidance would greatly benefit students of Media and Communication Studies.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Dr Saeed-ul-Hassan Chishti, Pro Vice Chancellor, said that the true purpose of higher education is to promote research, critical inquiry, and social responsibility. He noted that the Majid Nizami Chair would create new opportunities for research, academic discourse, policy dialogue, and professional development in Media Studies and the Social Sciences. He expressed optimism that the Chair would emerge as a leading national platform for excellence in journalism and communication studies.

Earlier, Captain (Retd) Faisal Khalid, General Manager Human Resources and Professor of Practice, briefed the audience on the objectives and significance of the upcoming Health & Education Summit and Expo 2026, being organized by the RLK Group.

The event was attended by Registrar Dr Ayaz Qaiser, COO Brigadier (Retd.) Asim Imran, Nawa-i-Waqt Group COO Colonel (retired) Ahmad Nadeem Qadri, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Dr Mubashar Nadeem, Head of Student Affairs Dr Pinkesh Zahra, directors, heads of departments, faculty members, and a large number of students.

Participants described the establishment of the Majid Nizami Chair as a significant milestone for journalism, academic research, and higher education in Pakistan. During the ceremony, Prof Dr Muhammad Tahir Mustafa of the Department of Religious Studies presented Ms. Rameeza Majid Nizami with a copy of the non-dotted Urdu translation of the Holy Qur’an as a commemorative gift.

Following the ceremony, Ms Rameeza Majid Nizami visited the state-of-the-art TV Studio of the Department of Media and Communication Studies, where she appeared as a special guest on the University’s official podcast, “Uraan.” During the podcast, she shared her views on the future of journalism, emerging trends in the media industry, youth leadership, and the evolving role of responsible journalism in contemporary society.
