KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has suspended an air hostess after mobile phone and smartwatches were recovered from her possession, ARY News reported, citing sources.

PIA suspended the air hostess, identified as Samera Aftab, who had arrived in Karachi from the Canadian city of Toronto aboard flight PK-784 a few days ago.

The PIA vigilance department submitted an incident report to the airline’s HR department.

Following the suspension, the PIA administration has launched a formal investigation into the matter.

Earlier, PIA has regained 14 slots at London’s Heathrow Airport that had previously been allocated to foreign airlines following restrictions on the national carrier’s UK operations.

The return of the slots is expected to enable PIA to expand its flight operations between Pakistan and London, with an increase in services planned under the winter schedule beginning in October.

According to sources, PIA’s weekly flights from Islamabad to London are likely to increase from three to five, while flights from Lahore to London are expected to rise from one to two per week.

The restoration of the Heathrow slots is also expected to strengthen connectivity from Karachi and Sialkot to London through connecting flights.

The development is likely to provide PIA with greater operational capacity in the UK market and improve air connectivity between Pakistan and Britain.

In 2022, Pakistan International Airlines were given seven of its landing slots at London’s Heathrow Airport — one of the world’s most important and busiest airports — to two foreign airlines.

According to details, PIA allowed six flight slots at London Heathrow Airport to Turkish Airlines, while it gave one slot to Kuwait Airways for a period of six months. After the ban on Pakistan International Airlines flights by the European Union, PIA has entered into an agreement with foreign airlines for landing slots at London’s Heathrow Airport.

KARACHI: The Judicial Commission investigating the Mir Raza Ali case has released a WhatsApp number and email address to facilitate communication with members of the public.

According to the commission, citizens can provide any information related to the Mir Raza case directly to the Judicial Commission.

The commission said citizens can contact it via WhatsApp at 0321-3850899.

Members of the public can also share information with the commission via email at [email protected].

The Judicial Commission urged anyone having relevant information about the case to come forward and share it with the commission.

The commission, headed by Sindh High Court Justice Umar Sial, decided during its proceedings on Friday, 28 August 2026, that advertisements would be published in newspapers inviting members of the public to come forward with information.

An official email address and WhatsApp number would also be issued for people wishing to contact the commission.

Justice Omar Sial said the appeal was intended to encourage anyone with information about Mir Raza’s death to come forward. A reward of Rs100,000 would be given for information considered significant to the investigation.

The commission also ordered that notices be placed at the location where Mir Raza’s body was found, in the hope that eyewitnesses or others with relevant information would contact the panel.

Mir Raza was reported missing on 28 July. His body was found the following day in Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi.

Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq have been dropped from Pakistan’s Test squad following the team’s poor performance on the ongoing tour of England.

According to sources, Mohammad Rizwan is set to be sent back to Pakistan on the first available flight due to his disappointing performances.

Investigations are also underway into Imam-ul-Haq’s injury, and a decision has reportedly been made to send him back home as well.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has called up six players to Birmingham, including Saim Ayub, Arafat Minhas and Abdullah Fazal.

Sources further said that Mike Hesson has been entrusted with handling all team matters during the Birmingham Test.
England Outclass Pakistan at Lord’s

England also defeated Pakistan in the Lord’s Test, completing a dominant performance against the visitors.

On the fourth day, England were bowled out for 208 in their second innings, setting Pakistan a target of 389 runs for victory. However, Pakistan’s batting line-up collapsed once again, with the team being dismissed for 194.

Abdullah Shafique was dismissed for a duck, while Mohammad Rizwan scored just one run. Captain Babar Azam and Azaan Awais contributed six runs each, while Shan Masood made 26.

Saud Shakeel was the standout batter for Pakistan, scoring a fighting 97 runs.

The victory marked England’s first win over Pakistan at Lord’s in 16 years. With the win, England took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Babar admits Pakistan failed to capitalize on favorable conditions following defeat

Babar Azam admitted the entire Pakistan side faltered against England, putting down latest defeat to tactical errors and batting collapses, which according to Babar could have easily been avoided given the circumstances of the match.
