Meghan Markle “feels backed into a corner” after latest Palace snub involving Prince Harry

0

Following a recent trip to the United Kingdom alongside Prince Harry, insider reports indicate that Meghan Markle is struggling with the aftermath of strict boundaries imposed by the Royal Household.

The Palace designated meetings between the Sussexes and senior royals as strictly private family matters, issuing a ban on releasing photos, videos, or details to the press. Sources speaking to Heat magazine noted that the prohibition on documenting or sharing moments from the visit felt “especially insulting” to the Duchess, who feels silenced by the rigid guidelines.

Concerns Over “Censorship” and Loss of Independence

While the Duchess accepts the importance of maintaining positive relations with King Charles III to support Harry’s desire for reconciliation, insiders suggest she harbors deep concerns about the terms.

“Meghan accepts that they need to stay in the royals’ good graces… but she’s worried that they’re degrading themselves by caving into all of this censorship that means they’re essentially muzzled or backed into a corner where they have no voice,” a source revealed.

The situation was further compounded by lingering security concerns. Insiders noted that inadequate security arrangements made the family feel as though they were “pretty much in hiding the whole time,” preventing them from stepping into the public eye with confidence.

Differing Perspectives on the Path Forward

The media restrictions have reportedly highlighted a contrast in how the couple approaches their relationship with the monarchy:

  • Prince Harry’s Approach: Views the tight media controls as a temporary compromise required to establish trust, take a step back, and gradually rebuild long-term relationships with the Royal Family.
  • Meghan Markle’s Perspective: Expresses reluctance over agreeing to conditions that limit their self-expression, particularly while the official royal channels continuously publish updates on their own digital platforms.

As the couple continues to navigate their public identity from California, balancing institutional expectations with personal independence remains an ongoing challenge.

Police form new team to probe Mir Raza Ali's murder; murder charge added to FIR

0

KARACHI: The investigation team probing the killing of 25-year-old businessman Mir Raza Ali has been reconstituted while the murder charge has been added to the case registered on his father’s complaint.

Ali’s body was found in bushes in Karachi’s Gulistan-i-Jauhar last month, a day after he went missing on July 28. While his family is convinced that he was kidnapped, tortured and murdered, police had previously been building the case around the possibility that he died by suicide.

However, an order released by the Sindh inspector general of police’s (IG) office on Sunday, notifying the reconstitution of the investigating team, showed that the murder charge had been added to the first information report.

The order, seen by Dawn, said the new investigating team was formed in light of Ali’s second postmortem report, which contradicted the one released after his first postmortem, to “supervise the investigation of FIR no. 795/2026 u/s 365/ 302/ 201 of the PPC”.

Initially, the first information report (FIR) was registered only under Section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), which pertains to kidnapping.

Of the newly added sections, 302 pertains to murder and 201 to hiding the evidence of an offence or giving false information to screen the offender.

The case would now be probed by a five-member team led by Sindh Deputy IG (Crime and Investigation) Amir Farooqui and comprising Alfalah SSP Syed Muhammad Ali Raza, Korangi SP (Investigation) Qais Khan, Central SP (Investigation) Anam Tajjamul and Zaman Town SIO Ch. Ghazanfar, the police order said.

It added: “The team shall undertake a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the case from all relevant angles. The team shall identify, collect, preserve and examine any new or additional evidence and shall thoroughly examine and analyse all physical, technical, circumstantial and forensic evidence collected during the investigation.

“The team shall make all out efforts to work out the case and submit a report to the court concerned within the stipulated period. The team may co-opt any officer to assist in the investigation. Progress shall be reported on a day-to-day basis.”

On Saturday, the lawyer for Ali’s family, Jibran Nasir, had demanded that the first investigation probing the case be replaced, after a fresh post-mortem examination conducted following the exhumation of Ali’s body found that he had been shot in the back — evidence that ruled out the possibility of suicide.

Speaking to the media, he reiterated the allegation that Ali had been tortured before being murdered.

“This was murder following torture — the murder of a happy, ambitious and educated young man from Karachi,” he alleged.

The family’s lawyer also criticised senior police officials, alleging that they “do not want to investigate, but rather humiliate, harass and exhaust the family”.

Advocate Nasir added that he and the family had “no faith” in the investigation team and that they wanted the entire team changed.

Mir Raza Ali: New probe team to be formed in the case

0

KARACHI: Police authorities have decided to constitute a new five-member investigation team to probe the alleged killing of  Karachi businessman Mir Raza Ali.

According to police officials, the new investigation committee is being formed under the leadership of DIG Crime and Investigation Amir Farooqi. The committee will include SSP CTD Irfan Bahadur, SP Korangi, SP Central Investigations, and senior Special Investigation Unit officer Ghanzafar.

Police officials said the formal notification regarding the new investigation committee would be issued shortly.

The development comes after Mir Raza Ali’s lawyer, Jibran Nasir, called for the investigation team to be changed following the release of a new medical report. Authorities subsequently dissolved the previous team.

Speaking to the media, Jibran Nasir said they had no confidence in the investigation team comprising the AIG and SSP and would demand that the entire investigation team be replaced. He added that they would approach the court with their request.

The lawyer further alleged that the victim’s family had been kept at an office for hours and told to accept that the incident was a suicide. He claimed that police officials had been pressuring the family to accept the suicide theory.

According to Jibran Nasir, marks of violence were found on different parts of Mir Raza Ali’s face, while a black substance was also found on his body, which he said was unusual.

He further claimed that the evidence had established that the bullet entered through the victim’s back and exited through his chest. He also said there was evidence indicating that Mir Raza Ali had suffered fractured ribs.

The initial medical report

According to the initial medical report of Mir Raza, he sustained a gunshot wound to the back and also bore signs of torture on his body, sources revealed.

Officials said the forensic team has received responses to all 14 points raised during the examination. In light of these findings, the scope of the investigation is expected to be expanded further.

An eight-member medical board is currently finalizing the detailed report, while 17 samples collected during the exhumation have been preserved for further forensic analysis.

Iran issues list of new demands to reopen Hormuz

Tehran’s supreme security council insists US permanently end war with Iran and all its proxies, withdraw military from region, lift all sanctions, release all frozen assets, pay compensation Strait won’t open until US corrects behaviour Iran attacks a vessel in Strait of Hormuz, UAE says.

TEHRAN/DUBAI/WASHINGTON  –  Iran’s politburo-like body known as the Supreme National Security Council said Saturday that the Strait of Hormuz will not open until the United States “corrects its behaviour,” and issued drastic new demands that could shake up talks on a deal to manage the waterway and traffic on it.

Iran’s state broadcaster published the statement by the council’s secretary, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, who is also a commander in the powerful Revolutionary Guard.

The US must never threaten Iran again, the statement says, and must permanently end the war with Iran and its regional proxies, including Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis. The US must lift the naval blockade of Iranian ports and withdraw its military from the area.

The council is also demanding full compensation to Iran for all damage it sustained in the 2025 and 2026 wars, the lifting of all sanctions on Iran, and the unconditional release of all frozen Iranian assets.

The new list of demands reflects the demands Iran was previously making as a condition for a permanent accord with the US. That envisaged accord was intended by the US as also resolving the threat posed by Iran’s rogue nuclear program and its stockpile of 60pc-enriched uranium. Instead, these demands are now being issued as conditions for an accord under which Iran would merely consent to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Barak Ravid, Washington correspondent of Israel’s Channel 12, said these are demands that “clearly the US cannot accept,” and that they are potentially capable of pushing US President Donald Trump back toward the military option that he put aside only days ago.

In an interview with Fox News, US Vice President JD Vance said that Iran has told the US that it has “no plans” to impose tolls on the Strait of Hormuz.

Vance’s claim comes amid reporting that Iran has issued multiple new demands, with the Supreme National Security Council saying that the strait will not open until the United States “corrects its behaviour,” insisting that the US must never threaten Iran again, that the US must permanently end the war with Iran and its regional proxies including Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis, and that the US must lift the naval blockade of Iranian ports and withdraw its military from the area.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said earlier Saturday that the US will be “forced to accept Iran’s conditions” regarding the waterway, seemingly referring to its earlier insistence on requiring ships to pay fees for passage, which the US opposes.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Saturday that Iran and Oman were “very close” to reaching an accord on a new shipping route through the strategic waterway. He added that there would be conditions, including compensation for what Tehran claims were US violations of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, the June agreement between the US and Iran to set terms for peace talks. But according to Vance, Iran has indicated to the US that it is looking for a deal and will not charge tolls on the strait.

“Some people within the Iranian system” have talked about tolling the waterway, he says, adding that “the Iranians have told us they have no plans to toll the Strait of Hormuz.”

A vessel owned by Abu Dhabi’s state-owned ADNOC oil and gas company was attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, Emirati authorities said earlier Saturday. The Foreign Ministry said Iran fired the missile as part of attacks on commercial shipping.

ADNOC in a statement said there were no casualties following the attack early Saturday. The company said over a dozen of its vessels have been attacked by missiles and drones while transiting the strait since the U.S. and Israel launched the war on Iran in February. One crew member has been killed and 20 others wounded, it said. ADNOC didn’t elaborate on the attack’s location or any damage.

Later, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Center said a vessel east of the town of Khasab, Oman, had been struck by a projectile that caused a fire that was put out, with the vessel and crew safe. It was not clear whether this was the ADNOC incident.

Yemen’s military attacks Iran-backed Houthis

The attacks were in response to the Houthis’ recent strikes in central and eastern Yemen. Col. Majed al-Nazili, spokesperson for Yemen’s military, said the attacks targeted the rebels’ “sites and capabilities” on multiple front lines, without elaborating.

The escalation between the Houthis and Yemen’s internationally recognized government and its backer, a Saudi-supported coalition, threatens to reignite Yemen’s civil war following a 2022 truce.
